Dental bonding is one of the most common cosmetic dental procedures and is an affordable and versatile technique that can be used to correct a variety of minor imperfections. With dental bonding, a tooth-colored resin is applied and hardened to adhere to the surface of the tooth. Bonding can be used to repair a chipped or cracked tooth, fill gaps in between teeth, or change a tooth’s appearance (color, shape, or length). Cosmetic dental bonding will restore your tooth to it's original state and sometimes even better! It can also cover the area around the root of the teeth, at the base of the tooth, caused by gum recession.
Old metal fillings do not join with teeth and dentists are often forced to remove part of the healthy tooth in order to fill the cavity. The color and shade of your tooth's enamel will be matched to the resin used in the bonding process. Then a solution will be applied to the surface of the tooth to make it slightly rough wich enables the resin to bond to the tooth. The tooth is then shaped and sculpted and then the resin is cured with a dental resin light solidifying the resin into place. The tooth os then polished. Bonding is used to replace or cover unattractive metal fillings, or as a less damaging and more discreet alternative for filling new cavities and drastically improve the appearance of your smile!
