Next, you will meet with our hygienist, and you will probably begin to notice how thorough we are because we will take x-rays, scans, photos of your teeth, and measurements of your gum tissue. We do this because we are screening for issues such as periodontal disease, TMJ problems, tooth decay, oral cancer, sleep apnea, and maybe even some hidden health concerns that your physician may diagnose. We often share our CT scans with our patients’ primary physicians for early diagnosis of any additional conditions that we notice.
Being thorough allows us to detect many issues early on so you can have the opportunity to select less invasive treatment procedures in many cases. We are also able to help patients with problems such as sleep apnea, which is a dangerous sleep disorder that remains widely undiagnosed. We know that your oral health affects your overall health and well being, and we are your partners in achieving and maintaining optimum oral health.
You will receive a thorough cleaning if there are no periodontal concerns, and you will meet with one of our doctors to discuss your oral health and any treatment recommendations if necessary.
