Emergency Dental Services
Unfortunately, no matter how diligent you are about your oral health, accidents and emergencies do happen.
It’s important to know that you have the right team on your side when you face a dental emergency, and your team at Tryon Family Dentistry with convenient locations in both Raleigh and Zebulon, NC, is here for you.
Same-day Dentistry to Meet your Needs
We have morning and evening availability, and we make every effort to see emergency patients the same day. With our CEREC technology, we can also typically offer same-day restorations such as crowns, onlays, and veneers to restore fractured or damaged teeth right away, if needed.
Understanding what to do during a dental emergency also helps make your situation less stressful. Here are some helpful tips on handling common dental emergencies.
What to do in a Dental Emergency
Everyone experiences a dental emergency at least once in their lifetime. Our Raleigh dentists have seen everything, from major mouth trauma from an accident to common toothaches.
A broken or lost restoration: While we wish they’d last forever, dental restorations do have a lifespan and will eventually break down. If your old filling or crown fractures or falls out, it will need to be replaced in order to protect your tooth from an infection or further damage.
A knocked-out tooth: Act quickly if your tooth has been knocked out because we have the best chance of saving it when we can see you as soon as possible. Be careful transporting your tooth to our office, and try not to handle it too much. Place it back in its socket or use a container of milk to transport it and keep the cells moist and alive.
A toothache or constant pain: Pain often indicates an infection in your tooth, especially if it is constant. If your tooth is infected, it needs to be treated quickly since an infection can spread to your other teeth and even affect your jawbone. Contact our office promptly. Root canal therapy may be able to preserve your tooth.
Injuries to your soft tissues: Injuries to your cheeks, lips, gums, and tongue tend to bleed a lot. You can stop the bleeding with a cold compress applied with light pressure. When the bleeding has stopped, contact our office for further instruction and to determine if you need immediate attention.
A broken tooth: If you have a tooth that is broken, gather the pieces and contact our office right away. We’ll assess your tooth and recommend the right treatment for your needs. CEREC technology allows us to restore teeth with veneers or crowns the same day. If your tooth is chipped, it will need to be smoothed eventually, but it may not require immediate attention.
